Monitoring solutions

Open-pit slope monitoring

Combine subsurface displacement, surface deformation and rainfall observations around pit slopes and active excavation areas.

Monitoring objective

Track deformation at different depths and selected surface points as excavation progresses. Select monitoring locations from the geological structure, excavation stages and the zones of interest identified by the project team.

Measurement arrangement

  • Borehole displacement profiles to locate deformation at depth
  • Fixed-depth tilt measurements at selected rock or soil layers
  • Surface inclination and crack opening at selected points
  • Rainfall records to compare changing water conditions with deformation

Product selection

Use the RT-1010 for continuous displacement profiles along a borehole and the RT-1020 for long-term monitoring at selected depths. Wireless tilt sensors and crackmeters add observations at the surface. The RT-1090 records rainfall. Device choice depends on range, installation conditions, available power and communications.

Excavation and blasting

Where blasting effects on nearby structures also need to be measured, add an RT-2001 blast vibration monitoring terminal. Occasional-vibration triggers in a wireless tiltmeter do not replace dedicated waveform acquisition.

Field integration

Confirm mounting, reference positions and communications before installation. Bring device identifiers, timestamps, readings and status into the project platform so that subsurface and surface measurements can be compared over time.
